The live webinar Cardiology Summer School Course sets the foundation and provides a review of the care of patients with various cardiovascular diseases. A focus is made on cardiac physiology & assessment, cardiovascular medications, heart failure management, acute coronary syndrome, valvular dysfunction, atrial arrhythmias, and cardiomyopathies.
This webinar is live with Nicole and is comprised of 3 sessions, each session is 4 hours & 30 minutes with 2, 10-minute breaks. Each session will be offered on 2 separate dates, you can choose which date you would like to attend, or you can attend both!
Nicole makes the course fun & interactive with live polling of questions and numerous opportunities for nurses to ask questions!

Session 1: Cardiovascular Anatomy & Physiology, Cardiovascular Medications & Heart Failure Management

Session 3: Valvular Disease, Current Strategies & Treatments for Tachyarrhythmias & Cardiomyopathies

Learning Objectives
Session 1: Cardiovascular A&P, Cardiac Medications & Heart Failure Management
- Discuss normal anatomy & perfusion of the heart
- Discuss basic cardiac assessment findings
- Describe the intended use & side effects of numerous cardiovascular medications
- Safety considerations with administration
- Discuss the difference between HFrEF, HFmEF, HFpEF
- Discuss current treatment strategies for heart failure
Session 2: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), Case Studies in ACS & 12 Lead ECG
- Discuss medications commonly used to treat ACS
- Review the anatomy of a 12 Lead ECG
- Discuss the changes reflected on the 12 Lead ECG with ischemia, injury & infarction
- Discuss signs & symptoms associated with different locations of myocardial infarctions through case studies
Session 3: Valve Disease, Current Strategies and Treatments in Tachyarrhythmias & Cardiomyopathies
- Identify when valves are open & closed in the cardiac cycle
- Describe murmurs of stenosis & insufficiency
- Discuss clinical management of patients with mitral & aortic valve dysfunction
